Meet Change-Makers at Bklabs
A Story of Impact - In our world, an overwhelming amount of clothing ends up discarded. A staggering 86% of post-consumer textiles ultimately find their way into landfills. SCRAP is on a mission to change that. Since its inception in 2020, SCRAP has successfully diverted over 100,000 lbs of clothing and linens from becoming waste.
"We've built an ecosystem to extract value from discarded textiles, beginning with collections from individuals and businesses, and continuing through sorting, sanitizing, reselling, fiber recycling, and remanufacturing new products." - Patrick Metellus, Founder, SCRAP NYC
Patrick Metellus, CEO & Founder of SCRAP, grew up in New York. His mother would collect unwanted clothing and send it to her native Haiti, providing underprivileged children and families in Port-au-Prince with much-needed resources. At the age of 8, a transformative experience planted the seed for Patrick's future endeavors: witnessing his cherished "old" t-shirt find a new life with a young boy of a similar age, bringing him both joy and hope.
